Maui Weather

Maui is the second largest island in Hawaii and when it comes to the ranking in the United States, it comes at number 17. The climate in Maui depends on where you are on the island as some locations can be as high as 3,000 feet (910 meters) while the coastline tends to be warmer. Most of the population centers in the island of Maui are located less than 5 miles from the coastline. The lowlands are divided in three different regions: Windward Lowlands, Leeward Lowlands and Interior Lowlands. They all display differences in their climate. The Maui weather can be as irregular as its topography so each time you visit it is recommended that you stay updated with the weather forecast.

Daytime Temperatures

What you will find when you visit Maui is that the temperatures during the daytime tend to stay pretty close to the same throughout the year. The coolest month of the year is usually February when the temperatures average 76 Fahrenheit (24.4 Celsius) as the average high and 66 Fahrenheit (18.89 Celsius) for the average low. Whenever you decide to visit Maui you will not have to worry about cold snaps in the Maui weather. Though in some cases the lowlands have felt cooler than average temperatures, it never has never been anything close to freezing. We at The Maui Weather.Net will gladly recommend visiting at this area any time of the year as the daytime temperatures are perfect beach weather at all of its coastlines.

Rain

The one thing that the Maui weather can throw your way during your visit is rain as showers are very common. Some showers can be heavy but most of the rain that you will experience in Maui will be brief and rather light. It is rare for rainfall to last over 30 minutes. The average rainfall for some parts of Maui is over 300 inches (7,600 millimeters) so we at www.themauiweather.net like to recommend that you look at the weather forecast during your visit. A lot of the influence on the rain is due to the Pacific Ocean. In the lowlands in Maui you are more likely to see rain late at night and sometimes during the morning leaving the afternoon free for your outdoor activities.

The Year Round Temperature

One of the most important things that you want to know about the Maui weather is the type of temperatures that will greet you when you get here. While the answer to that question depends on where you are heading in the island, if you are going to a specific area you will see that the temperatures do not vary much. We at The Maui Weather.Net love the beach in Maui and during the summer the average high temperature is 85 Fahrenheit (29 Celsius). You might think that in the winter those temperatures drop a lot but in reality the average high during the winter is 78 Fahrenheit (26 Celsius). The lows in both the winter and the summer go down about 10 degrees.

The Wind

One thing you should know about islands is that they have usually two sides. One which is sheltered from winds and that is called the leeward side and there is also the side that sees full force winds; that is the windward side. In Maui the leeward sides are the south and the west and those regions tend to be hotter and drier. Maui's windward sides are the north and the east. Those locations in the island tend to be moist and cool. By visiting www.themauiweather.net you will be able to see a map of the island which will give you an idea of what weather to expect when you visit the island of Maui for your vacation.

Best Time To Visit

To look for a best time to visit Maui is a bit difficult, especially when you are a bit partial (which we are). If you are coming to the beach then really there is not a bad time of the year to visit. While rain happens, it tends to be quick passing so even if you visit during the winter, you will get plenty of sun. The reason why the summer may be a better time for your trip is that the nighttime temperatures are not ever cool. In fact, you will be able to plan nighttime outdoor activities without ever having to worry about bringing any sort of layers. Maui travelers will enjoy the island at any time of the year.
